Many events are about the presentation.

Others become about the people.

The launch of the Private Lender Playbook – 2nd Edition turned into the second one.

Walking into a packed room and seeing investors, lenders, entrepreneurs, agents, business owners, friends, family, and long-time supporters all gathered together was something special.

The evening started around releasing a new edition of the book, but as the night unfolded, it became clear that something bigger was happening.

Conversations were happening everywhere.

People were talking about deals.

Relationships were being formed.

Experienced investors were sharing lessons.

Newer investors were asking questions.

People were discussing funding, business, opportunities, and growth.

And honestly, that’s where some of the most valuable things happen.

Over the last 18+ years in real estate, I’ve learned something important:

Business often moves at the speed of relationships.

Many investors spend years chasing strategies, marketing tactics, software, or the newest trend while overlooking one of the biggest assets they can build:

Trust.

Because money doesn’t just follow numbers.

It often follows trust.

It follows relationships.

It follows reputation.

You can have the best deal in the world, but if people don’t trust you, it becomes much harder to
build something meaningful and sustainable.

One of the biggest reasons I wrote the Private Lender Playbook was to help investors
understand that raising capital is not simply about asking for money.

It’s about creating value.

It’s about serving people well.

It’s about protecting relationships.

It’s about building a business that people want to become part of.

The event itself was a reminder that books create knowledge, but rooms create opportunities.

Those are often the things that change businesses and sometimes even lives.

One quick note: while the event itself went incredibly well, we did have one unexpected hiccup.
Unfortunately, our professional recording files were damaged. Thankfully, one of the attendees happened to be recording portions of the evening on their phone, which allowed us to still preserve and share much of the experience.

Not exactly the original plan, but we’re grateful we were still able to capture it.
