Where Winners Are Made: Hurt vs. Injured

Just wrapped up a garage workout.
Sweaty, sore—and full of clarity.
That’s what a good workout does: it gives you wisdom.
Here’s the thought on my mind:
Work smarter, not harder.
Yeah, I know you’ve heard it before. But let me break it down.
A lot of you are out there grinding.
Working your face off.
But still not getting any closer to where you want to be.
*Ask me how I know.*
I lived that life for years.
When I first got into real estate, I’d walk into investor meetings surrounded by MBAs, finance pros, brokers—people way smarter (on paper) than me.
So I made a decision: I’d just outwork them.
While they were sleeping, I’d be hustling.
While they were golfing, I’d be grinding.
And yeah, that mentality helped me get started.
It got me out of the gate fast.
But it didn’t get me to the next level.
My go-to move was always “work harder.”
Like one of those video game power moves that kids talk about.
But eventually, I had to learn a new move: **work smarter.**
Now that I’m 50, I can say this with full conviction:
Hard work is powerful—but *smart* work wins.
And this goes way beyond business.
It applies to every area of life—the 4 pillars of real wealth:
~Spiritual
~Relational
~Physical
~Financial
Ask yourself:
👉 Where in your life are you pushing harder when you should be getting smarter?
Spiritually– Are you trying to “do” more for God instead of just listening and being present?
Relationally– Are you doing acts of service hoping to earn love, instead of learning what your people actually need from you?
Physically– Are you pushing through pain and trying to prove yourself in the gym, when your body’s asking for a smarter plan (like yoga, swimming, recovery)?
Financially/Professionally– Are you trying to build everything yourself instead of leveraging wisdom, systems, and the right people?
Working hard will always be a badge of honor. But if you want to win long-term—you need wisdom.
You need leverage.
You need strategy.
You need to work smarter.
That’s how you build Wealth 4x.
Spiritual. Relational. Physical. Financial.
Invest in those every day.
That’s the real grind worth showing up for.
Take care, my friends.
